You ever see someone do something that you wish you could do and think 'I could never do that in a million years' and then see someone else that you never thought could do it and think ' If THEY can do it, so can I'? Well I'm having one of those.

My grandmother could sew like no one's business. The woman could whip out things on her 60+ year old Singer like it was nothing. We inherited that sewing machine when she died and the thing refused to work(I swear she jinxed it). I'd expressed some interest in sewing but never thought I could afford to get a machine to learn but Santa surprised me last year and for a year that damn machine has sat in its box because I wasn't sure I'd have the patience to do it. Then I see Adam Savage from Mythbusters at a sewing machine during the 'Hindenburg Mystery' episode and now I'm like 'If HE can learn to sew, so can I'.

I know I can. Grandma could whip out anything on her machine and my mother whose eyesight is TERRIBLE was wanting to use my machine and if they can do it, so can I.

Aw, that's so awesome! :D I'd love to see what you come up with! I'd love to sew. My grandmother loved to sew, too. She made my Halloween costumes in kindergarten and 6th grade. My mom sews a bit, too. I always wanted to, but I'd never done more than a few stitches. Last winter my husband had a sweat jacket that needed mending. I'm thinking "Oh God I can't do this..." but I surprised myself.

:) My grandmother offered to teach me when I struggled to learn to sew in 6th grade Home Ec(Grandma had no use for Home Ec) and I never got around to it and now I wish I had. I think this weekend, I'm going to go to my local fabric store and get some fat quarters and learn.
